FAIR TRADE – PARTNER PROGRAMME STEP
All rugs in this collection are made from natural materials using traditional handweaving techniques. Wool in natural shades is first blended, then felted into durable yarns and finally woven into rugs. We use the Label STEP standard as a guide during production.
The STEP standard includes requirements concerning fair wages, safe working conditions, the prohibition of child labour and environmental protection. Label STEP recognises dealers who commit to applying the standard across their entire range of handmade rugs. Independent inspectors check working conditions; where shortcomings are found, corrective measures are initiated. The non-profit association was founded in Switzerland in 1995 and supports the people who make handmade rugs.
